Energy Machines™ heat pumps and chillers are the heart of our integrated energy systems, providing properties with heating, cooling and domestic hot water. The integrated energy system is an all in one device: a cooling unit and a heat pump within one machine or separate, depending on your building's needs.
It’s an ongoing cycle of energy – storing energy underground during summer and extracting it during the winter. The system may be BTES (Borehole Thermal Energy Storage)-based, where the heat and cold energy is stored within boreholes, or ATES (Aquifer Thermal Energy Storage)-based, where the energy is stored within natural underground aquifers.
Replace your conventional energy system with an Energy Machines solution and experience optimal efficiency, comfort, and sustainability – without the expense of the planet. Together, we can make achieving - and exceeding - the EU’s renewable energy targets and 2030 UN Sustainable Development Goals a reality. Become part of the ongoing worldwide sustainable energy revolution.
Our EM1 combined heat pump-and-chiller is up to 35 percent more efficient on an annual basis than a standard heat pump, as cooling units and heat pumps transport more thermal energy than the mechanical energy which is needed to drive the process. Our solutions achieve an efficiency above COP (Coefficient of Performance)** 10 in the production of cooling, heating, and domestic hot water.
** The COP shows the relationship between the energy generated and energy consumed by the system. The higher the COP, the higher the efficiency of the equipment.
Energy Machines™ heat pumps and chillers are built using the best available parts which are best-suited for achieving optimal energy solutions. Our uniquely high standards maximize the longevity and quality of the integrated systems we build.
Energy Machines™ is the result of several years of research and development. The integrated energy system is based on the same technology as a heat exchanger, efficiently extracting energy from the hot temperature liquid to pre-heat domestic hot water. The result is a high-performance energy exchange.
A heat pump extracts heat from a relatively low-temperature area (e.g. the ground energy from a high temperature area) and adds mechanical energy, transferring it to low-temperature area (for example outdoor air).
The coefficient of performance (COP) is used to compare the performance of cooling units and heat pumps. COP describes the ratio between the transported thermal energy and the added mechanical energy. A heat pump which lifts the thermal energy from 0° C to 60° C has a COP factor of 2,5. This means that the thermal energy is 2,5 times higher than the mechanical energy input. If the heat pump lifts the thermal energy from 0° C to 30° C, it has a COP factor of 5.
Commercial real estate buildings often have a simultaneous demand for heating and cooling. The cooling demand can be satisfied by producing water of 10° C and heat demand by producing water of 40° C. When both the cold and hot sides of a heat exchanger are used at the same time, the amount of the thermal energy doubles in relation to the applied mechanical energy. This gives COP 10.
Our heat pump-based integrated energy system uses sub-cooling technology resulting in a performance increase of 30-50%, compared to conventional heat pumps. More performance is achieved both in hot water production as well as in heat demand, reaching temperatures between 45 and 60° C.
The energy savings achieved with Energy Machines finance your investment in our technology, allowing you to become self-sufficient. You will never need to pay conventional energy companies.
The added value every saved SEK generates varies among the country’s property companies, but the accepted range is between SEK 12 and 20. Few investments will increase a property’s value in the way an integrated energy system does. Climate smart investments that increase the company’s competitiveness and overall value are initiated based on this shared principle.
EnergyMachines™ challenges conventional technology and offers an integrated fossil-free energy system as a sustainable solution. Our systems are optimised for each unique property, where the energy stored in rocks, water and soil, as well as internal loads (in the form of heat from server rooms, refrigerated cabinets, chillers..), is recovered and returned to the property in the form of heating and cooling. Producing and efficiently using energy in these ways builds a sustainable future for our planet and saves you money.
Energy Machines allow you to sustainably and economically produce heating, cooling and domestic hot water. Our solution is perfect for commercial real estate, which often requires simultaneous heating and cooling all year round.Financial calculations made for a normal year with a power need of 500 kW in heating and 500 kW in cooling shows a competitive LCC calculation. The investment cost for district heating and the connection charge is 0 SEK. The investment cost for the Energy Machines’ system is set around 6.5 million SEK.
